Description
We are currently looking to recruit a Construction Cost Estimating Engineer based in Burgess Hill, West Sussex. Salary £23,000- £25,000.
As Construction Cost Estimating Engineer we will be looking to you to secure business for the company. The main criteria for the role is to undertake assessment of costs with international suppliers to ensure only the most competitive suppliers are utilised.
Duties & responsibilities:
* Responsible for Project Estimation Cost activities including liaison with international sub-vendors and cost analysis of projects.
* liaison with the Senior Estimator/ Sales Director to ensure our competitive edge is maintained and lowest viable cost for Equipment is being offered to clients.
* Utilisation of bills of materials provided by Engineering Department to obtain competitive prices from suppliers. Where bills of materials are not provided then material take offs to be done from engineering drawings and data sheets.
* Full evaluation of quotations from suppliers including liaison with engineers to ensure full technical compliance to specifications.
* Utilisation of Excel spreadsheets to prepare estimates and analyse costs, at all times keeping the Senior Estimator, Sales Director and Design Engineer informed of major vendors selection and price changes.
* Sourcing of new suppliers worldwide and development of supplier relationships.
* liaison with Procurement Department to provide continued feedback to ensure competitive pricing.
* Actively promoting our services with suppliers in new markets.
* Tracking of international exchange rates and their effect on quotations.
* Review of performance of previous estimates to ensure correct pricing levels are maintained.
Qualifications:
GCSE/ A level Mathematics
GCSE English Language
Personal Attributes:
Good communicator and telephone manner.
Team player.
Good sense of humour.
Ability to handle different projects at once.
Deadline achiever.
Enthusiasm and willingness to progress.
Computer Literacy:
Competent Excel user.
Competent Microsoft Word user.
Experience:
2-3 years estimating experience. Equally important is an engineering background or experience in the construction industry.
Practical mechanical engineering experience including ability to read and interpret engineering drawings. | | |
