Description Key Responsibilities:
Manage the functions applications team (8 employees) including training and development, performance reviews and delegating responsibilities. Ensuring that technical expertise is appropriately distributed across the required disciplines.
Align applications resource for core development tasks as required and allocate suitable resource for customer development tasks including h/w design, s/w design, and custom firmware changes as required.
Work as required to achieve maximum Bluetooth qualifications and chip sales involving on-going assessment of applications resource distribution based on technical and commercial factors.
Provide technical support for products both internally and externally.
Produce weekly and monthly status reports to management to provide an update to senior management of current customer technical issues and work performed by the applications team to solve issues and mitigate risks.
Perform on-site and off-site training primarily to customers.
Represent applications function at customer meetings. This involves some presentations but typically involves real time discussions of work performed by the application team to assist customer's goals.
Continue to implement and improve processes by way of transferring lessons learned in to better engineering practices
Ensure laboratory is safely managed and H&S rules are adhered to.
Travel to customer sites if necessary.
The role involves some mid term planning but mainly involves short term planning in response to customer interrupt driven tasks
Required:
Degree or Higher Degree in electronics or similar qualification
System level understanding of Bluetooth. Experience of fault diagnosis and rectification
Previous experience of managing a team of people
Proven ability of leadership, mentoring, training. Motivational and influencing skills
Working knowledge of Bluetooth headset architecture
Ability to think quickly to position the company positively during discussions with customers
Ability to combine technical and commercial reasoning in to the decision making process
Desired:
Knowledge of h/w (digital and analogue) and embedded software
Cultural awareness of multinational company
Awareness of H&S legislation and environmental issues | | |
