PRINCIPAL SOFTWARE ENGINEER / WEST YORKSHIRE / TO £45K
Exciting opportunity for specialist EMBEDDED SOFTWARE ENGINEER to move into a leading-edge research role, offering a rare combination of intellectual challenge, cross-sector variety & commercial project discipline. Expert skills in digital set-top-box driver software essential. Role includes:
* Integrate/evaluate & work with key emerging technologies in the Digital TV, broadband, IMS & related sectors
* Interface with thought leaders in industry & extend your skills into challenging/interesting new areas of technology. Key skills also include:
- Significant embedded software exp in digital TV industry
- Played a key role in developing several successfully delivered products
- Expert at driver level in DVB/ MPEG STB stacks, incl. video & graphics drivers, in pre-emptive RTOS environments, preferably incl. Embedded Linux
- Good general understanding of architecture & principles of relevant Internet standards, protocols & architectures e.g TCP/IP, P2P, RTP, GSM, IMS & SIP
- Advantageous knowledge: DRM/content protection systems, architecture of hierarchical trust models, public key infrastructures, cryptography, & hardware/software robustness techniques
* As PRINCIPAL SOFTWARE ENGINEER within a DIGITAL TV RESEARCH TEAM you will bring up set-top box reference platforms quickly & integrating / evaluating new technologies / applications on them
* Also become expert in some technologies of current interest, e.g forensic watermarking, Digital Rights Management (DRM), IP Multimedia Subsystems (IMS) & Peer-to-Peer networks
Areas likely to be of initial interest: Home networking standards e.g: DLNA & DVB CPCM; DRM systems e.g: OMA, Microsoft DRM & Marlin, & technologies such as DVB IPDC, IMS; Peer-to-peer distribution systems that are starting to become relevant to the Digital TV sector | | |
