Our client is one of the world's largest metal producers with an annual turnover of over £9 billion and major operating facilities in the U.K., the Netherlands, Germany, France, Norway, and Belgium. They currently have an exciting vacancy for a Systems Support Engineer to be based in their Generation Plant. The job holder will be responsible for maintaining and continuously improving the reliability and integrity of all the Generation Plant control systems and providing first line “expert” support.
The successful candidate will also be expected to:
Ensure all safety standards are applied & maintained within the Generation Plant control systems including COMAH, SIFs & DSEAR.
Analyse the condition & performance of the Generation Plant control systems & identify problems or potential problems.
Recommend & implement preventive maintenance of the Generation Plant control systems.
Carry out and manage effective fault finding techniques & ensure timely repair of reported faults within the control systems.
Develop day technicians & shift personnel through training & coaching to enable them to carry out maintenance, fault finding & repair of the control systems.
Provide recommendations to the Senior Engineer on how best to ensure the reliability & integrity of the Generation Plant control systems.
Carry out failure analysis to identify root cause and implement solutions generated via the DRF /CAR system and the Plant Improvement Process.
Ensure that the appropriate level and quality of critical spares requirement is identified and arrangements are in place to satisfy operational demands.
The ideal candidate will have a process control, maintenance engineering background and be educated to degree level / HNC or equivalent in Instrumentation / Electrical engineering. They must also possess a good understanding of the principles of Process Control (PID).
The candidate must have experience in a maintenance / development role working with industrial process plant control equipment including DCS / SCADA systems. Experience with EPA control systems would also be an advantage.
Located in Port Talbot, this role is commutable from areas such as Neath, Bridgend, Barry, Pontypridd, Newport, Cardiff and Pontypool.
