Senior Bid Manager – Communication Systems – Transportation, Rail, Underground Security & Communication Systems - £40-55K + benefits
The Senior Bid Manager will be working on high value engineering programmes, responsible for managing, directing and delivering major bid opportunities in order to win profitable orders and drive the company’s growth within the Transportation and Security sectors.
Bids will range in value from £500k to complex tender submissions of hundreds of millions of pounds, and the Senior Bid Manager will be expected to simultaneously manage more than one major opportunity at various stages of the bid lifecycle. This will include initial opportunity review, through bid preparation and sign-off, implementation and handover of an accepted contract to delivery, including all aspects of costing, pricing and written documentation.
The Senior Bid Manager’s key responsibilities will include:
•Managing and leading a virtual bid team through the process of proposal building to delivering costed, business-winning proposals on time and to budget;
•Working with sales / business development to obtain clear, concise customer opportunity requirements, and in the preparation of pre-qualification responses;
•Liaising with the commercial and contracts department on risk analysis and qualification of terms and conditions;
•Organise and maintain the bid plan, setting target dates for delivery work packages from all parties;
•Prepare sign-off documentation;
•Regularly update senior management on progress of major bids.
The Senior Bid Manager should have proven bid management experience in a senior role within a technology solutions environment, including the Transportation / Rail and/or Security sectors.
Qualified to Degree level or equivalent in an engineering or business discipline. Strong leadership and negotiation skills with the ability to adapt to any bid in a wide range of domains. Willingness to work in a demanding, customer driven environment, sometimes requiring unsocial hours and UK / European travel.
