Description Lead Engineer Our client a leading Multinational based in Galway now requires a Lead Engineer to work with the Design Engineering team to identify, deliver and support agreed annual product Value Analysis/Value Engineering improvements for all product lines.
Main Responsibilities: • Organise and control engineering activity in Galway for NPD/NTD/Productivity/Warranty cost reduction by opening and prioritising projects, deploy resources in partnership with Lead Engineers, Sales, MBD, Sourcing, Operations and Supply management. • Lead the delivery of the VA/VE targets for Galway and ensure there is enough backup in Hedge and Funnel to deliver continuous VA/VE objectives, year on year. • Work as a member of the Design Engineering team to identify, deliver and support agreed annual product VA/VE improvements for all product lines. • Proactively manage multiple projects within the Company NPD and Productivity processes using agreed tools. Co-ordinate such effort and projects across non-engineering functions. Ensure timely cost effective delivery of savings. Report using agreed tools the delivered monthly VA/VE financial savings. • Perform necessary design, protyping, test and PRO-E work associated with such projects. Demonstrate and deliver engineering proficiency in PRO-E, VA/VE methodology, FMEA techniques as well as detailed knowledge of BOM and design. • Technically support and leverage Supply Management and other non-engineering functions to deliver sourcing and other productivity savings. • Perform other engineering non-VA/VE work as necessary and agreed. This will include design, sustaining and Q & R related work.
Key Competencies Required: • Bachelors Degree in Engineering Discipline with strong design and PRO-E experience. • Candidate must quickly master process (PROE) product and diverse material and component technologies and use. • Strong project planning and time management skills with the ability to balance present demands against long-range business plan objectives. Meets deadlines and objectives on an ongoing basis by removing roadblocks and utilising all available resources. • Actively contributes to business strategies, practices, processes and procedures by linking engineering activities and objectives to the business plan. Keeps up to date with business developments and trends by linking project initiatives and project plans to the long-term strategy. • Fosters effective teamwork where people work together to achieve common goals. Demonstrates the ability to communicate ideas and results in a clear and concise manner. • A strong team player that is capable of working with others. • Demonstrates ability to get to root cause and to take effective action to solve problems and to prevent reoccurrence. • Demonstrates initiative and innovation in approach to work, ability to develop new methods and approaches. Proactive in identifying and delivering upon new projects is important.
