Description
Dedicated to building and sustaining a world class enterprise, that sets the standard on an international basis, Cummins Power Generation in Kent (CPGK) is part of a global power systems business, operating at the forefront of new applications in continuous power generation. The main purpose of the role is to provide technical support to the Operations VPI (Value Package Introduction) Project Managers to ensure that the VPI Process deliverables are met for each Operations VPI Process step. This will include a combination of labour, machine, method, material & environment considerations required to produce a product that is repeatable and meets customer cost, quality, delivery and safety objectives.
Duties include assessing the impact of proposed new product introduction programs to ensure that the plant has both the capacity and capability to meet these demands, develop manufacturing strategy and implement new/revised processes, participate in Design Reviews, DFMEA (Design Failure Mode Effects and Analysis), PFMEA (Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) and Design for manufacture activities, leadership of process improvement and PFMEA activities and support Shop Operations to achieve their objectives by ensuring that production equipment and tooling is both available and capable. Other duties include working with teams and cross-functional groups to identify, evaluate & implement opportunities for process and quality improvement, maintain a safe working environment and actively work to reduce the potential for health and safety incidents, manage major strategic projects using plan, implementation and close-out phases to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and achieves stated goals and lead initiatives to develop C.O.S. (Cummins Operating System) and T.Q.S (Total Quality System). principles and practices.
All applicants must have at least an HNC in an engineering discipline or similar and ideally be Degree qualified along with having a Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation and Control, Production or Manufacturing System background. Ideally applicants would have Generator-set build and test experience, experience in Manufacturing, Production, and Industrial or Facility Engineering discipline at engineer level in an automotive or industrial environment and/or Project management of major capital investment and new product introduction initiatives.
