Description Cummins Power Generation Business is a global supplier of electrical power plants, diesel and natural gas generating sets, power electronics and Genset components. The Power Electronics Group covers products and associated services across a range of generator set controllers, transfer switches, switchgear and load management systems, remote monitoring and control software providing integrated system solutions. Reporting to the Projects Manager, the role includes responsibility for the design and factory testing of electrical and controls systems for use with diesel/gas electricity generating sets and associated LV/MV Switchgear. Commissioning support of Power Electronics systems would also be required at times.
Duties include the review of customer technical specifications and offer documents to determine and clarify the project scope of supply, full responsibility for all aspects of technical project management for planning and adherence to project targets, creation of engineering specifications, functional design specifications, creation of Bills of Materials using Cummins systems and the creation and testing of PLC and HMI software programmes. The role also includes undertaking product factory acceptance tests and in some instances site acceptance tests, support site commissioning work for Power Electronics supplied components, present to internal/external customers the ideas and concepts associated with Power Electronics, make design improvement recommendations based on investigation research and test results analysis, analyse world wide requirements and components, taking into account reliability, functionality, quality, cost, safety and performance and design for compliance with all relevant European Directives and National Standards.
All applicants must be educated to degree level in Electrical and Electronic Engineering or equivalent and a second language (preferably Primary European) is desired. All applicants must also have experience in either LV/MVSwitchgear and/or Systems PLC Programming with a desire to finally master both. It is also important that all applicants have some knowledge of AutoCAD, MS Office, have good communication skills across all levels, be logical and very organised.
