Description
A key vacancy exists in Engineering for a Test Operations Manager for Cummins Turbo Technologies, in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire. Reporting to the Chief Engineer of Laboratory Operations you will be responsible for the throughput of test work in the Huddersfield Test Operations. You will also be responsible for managing a team of technicians to produce engineering test information. This position would suit someone who has experience in working in a test environment or operations environment within the manufacturing industry. We are looking for someone who can improve efficiency and optimise processes and work flows. You will need to be a strong people manager with an operational background.
Key Responsibilities:
The main responsibility is for the throughput of test work and the quality of the results provided, and to achieve this by using agreed Company processes and test methods.
This is done by:
• Working with the engineering teams to develop test plans and effective Lab Ops work requests
• Managing the relevant technician groups to execute the plans
• Developing working practices that increase throughput and improve quality
• Devising and using systems and methods as appropriate
• Optimising facility utilisation
• Ensure areas under immediate control conform to health, safety and environmental standards
Works with other Lab Ops groups to achieve overall Lab Ops objectives and works as part of the Lab Ops Management Team to formulate strategy and policy in line with overall Engineering objectives.
Essential Skills
Degree or equivalent experience
Training in management techniques, particularly people skills, conflict resolution and the development of people at work
Knowledge of Measurement Systems, Control Plans for tracking and analysing bottlenecks
Qualification in Manufacturing would be desirable
