Description
A key vacancy exists in Engineering for a Durability/Fatigue Engineer within Cummins Turbo Technologies (Holset brand) in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire. This role is responsible for performing the durability and structural integrity analyses of turbocharger assemblies to support the design and approval process. Applicants must hold a Degree in Engineering with relevant experience (or equivalent experience). Knowledge of the automotive and aerospace industries is useful but not essential.
Key Responsibilities:
• To perform turbocharger component life calculations using fatigue prediction methods. This will include service life assessment.
• Support new product introduction and rapid problem solving process with standard durability analysis.
• Present and interpret analysis test data to internal/external customers.
• To work in functional and cross-functional teams to improve cost, quality and integrity of analysis.
• To liaise with reliability group to understand the relationship between predicted and actual failure rates in the field.
• Review incoming work requests, prepare data and review completed reports from Cummins Turbo Technologies’ Pune analysts
• Develop and support in-house software tools - nCode Command Language (nCL) scripts, GlyphWorks flows and Python scripts, Excel sheets and macros, Visual Basic scripts
Essential Skills: Degree in Mechanical Engineering with relevant work experience
Masters in Mechanical Engineering (specialisation in Fatigue and stress analysis preferred)
Experience in fatigue life prediction and/or structural integrity analysis.
Knowledge of nCode fatigue prediction software would be an advantage but not essential.
Understanding of general FEA and material behaviour is also preferred
Programming skills i.e. Excel macros, visual basic, Python, nCL
