Description Our client based in Galway are looking for an experienced R&D Engineer to work in a state of the art facility in Galway.
Key Responsibilities • Work on various balloon component development projects. • Acts as an individual contributor translating and integrating technical ideas into tangible results. • Conceives, invents, and recognises technical innovations. Evaluates materials/processes and recommends/implements courses of action. • Compile and analyse operational, test, and development data to establish performance standards for newly designed or modified products. • Independently analyses test data and reports to determine if the designs meet functional and performance specifications. • Creates and maintains design-related technical notes (notebooks, protocols, validations, qualifications, manufacturing documents, etc.) building a complete design history file. • Analyse product or equipment specifications/performance requirements to determine product designs, which can be produced by existing manufacturing or processing equipment and methods. • Work closely with machine design/process engineers to suggest/implement equipment modifications, where appropriate. • Interfaces with Marketing, Operations, Quality Assurance, vendors and possibly physicians. • May co-ordinate activities of a number of technicians in an assigned phase of a development project. • Evaluates in conjunction with EHS new equipment/processes/chemicals for environmental impact/effect to eliminate or lessen such impacts/effects. • Build Quality into all aspects of work by maintaining compliance to all quality requirements
Skills, Experience and Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Plastics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Polymer Science with overall experience of 4/5 years minimum in an R+D Engineering role with at least 2 years direct or related experience with thin polymer film technology. • Suitable Candidates should have a hands-on approach toward product development. • Must be well versed in Design of Experiments (DOE) and Design for Manufacturing (DFM) techniques. • Medical device experience and an understanding/working knowledge of FDA, and ISO standards is highly preferable and would be a significant asset. • Familiarity with pneumatics, mechanics, PLCs, and AutoCAD are a strong plus and failure mode analysis would be a plus.
