Description ROLE - QUALITY ENGINEER / QUALITY TECHNICIAN / QUALITY INSPECTOR - CONTROL SYSTEMS
SECTOR - ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING
BASED - LOUGHBOROUGH, LEICESTERSHIRE
SALARY - circa. £24,000 PER ANNUM
• THE OPPORTUNITY -
Our client,part of one of the world's largest engineering groups are now now inviting applications for an experienced Quality Engineer to join their team. With a history spanning back nearly 125 years and a presence in over 130 countries with their products, our client can be regarded as one of Leicestershire's leading engineering firms.
• ABOUT THE POSITION -
Reporting directly to the Chief Controls Engineer, the primary purpose for the role is to arrange for and to implement quality related activities to ensure that our client's electronic products and associated documentation match or exceed customers' expectations for satisfactory quality and time taken for delivery.
This position will entail regular travel to suppliers' sites both in the UK and overseas to conduct audits and quality investigations and therefore the successful applicant must have the presence and personal qualities necessary for this role.
Key responsibilities and duties will include but not be limited to -
- Maintain an up to date status log of all quality issues relating to our client's controls products including non-conformances, customer complaints and scheduled audits
- To follow through to ensure satisfactory resolution of every quality issue within a reasonable time to the satisfaction of customers and according to the needs of the business
- To undertake regular scheduled and exceptional external auditing of the systems and procedures used internally and by the suppliers of electronic equipment both in the UK and overseas.
- To inspect and verify quality of samples of electronic products at the suppliers' works, at our client's sites and occasionally at the customers' sites.
- To troubleshoot and undertake RCA investigations for electronic products and production systems at the suppliers' works, at our client's sites and occasionally at customers' sites.
- To write and issue detailed reports on audits and investigations.
- Working with suppliers and BTD Purchasing Departments to improve quality, control costs and reduce delivery times.
- Work closely with suppliers and with all functions within the our client's organisation as necessary to achieve the objectives including Controls Engineering, Purchasing, and Service Department
• ABOUT YOU -
- HNC/HND/Degree in Electronics or Electrical Engineering
- A thorough working knowledge of BS EN ISO 9001: 2000 requirements
- Must have a good working knowledge of all aspects of the manufacture and assembly of electronic equipment, ranging from base discrete components, PCB's, SMC's, boards etc.
- Knowledge of IPC_A_610 (Jan 2000) would be advantageous
- Experience regarding supplier auditing techniques
- Experience regarding inspection of supplied equipment at suppliers works
- Must have the ability to communicate at all levels
- Must have good IT skills including the use of spreadsheets etc
