ROLE - ELECTRICAL ENGINEER / COMMISSIONING ENGINEER / SERVICE ENGINEER
SECTOR - ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING
BASED - LOUGHBOROUGH, LEICESTERSHIRE
SALARY - circa. £26,000 PER ANNUM
• THE OPPORTUNITY -
Our client,part of one of the world's largest engineering groups are now now inviting applications for an experienced Electrical Engineer / Commissioning Engineer / Service Engineer to join their team. With a history spanning back nearly 125 years and a presence in over 130 countries with their products, our client can be regarded as one of Leicestershire's leading engineering firms.
• ABOUT THIS ROLE -
This is a challenging and important role involving extensive overseas and offshore working, in addition to attending sites in the UK, often for protracted periods. A high degree of technical competence is required with a corresponding level of self-sufficiency and resourcefulness, as global time differences often mean that factory support is not immediately available. The nature of the work calls for strength of character and physical fitness. Applicants should be equally at ease working alone or as members of a team.
Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to -
- Checking of customers' interconnections.
- Injection and proving of protection relays.
- Optimising the settings on automatic voltage regulators, automatic synchronisers and power management systems.
- Carrying out performance and acceptance testing of large motors and generators and associated equipment.
- Basic mechanical strip-down (and rebuild) of machines to gain access for testing/commissioning work.
- Carrying out electrical testing on high and low voltage windings in the field.
- Assisting winding specialists in carrying out winding repairs and rewinds.
- Supervision and training of customers'/subcontractors'/manufacturing associates'/service agents' personnel.
- Attendance at technical meetings.
- Interpretation of specifications and technical requirements.
- Preparation of method statements.
- Preparation of detailed and concise reports for submission to customers.
- Other duties as directed from time to time by the Service Manager or Chief Service Engineer
• ABOUT YOU -
- Either a degree (or a minimum HNC) in Electrical or Electronics Engineering is preferred though applicants with lesser qualifications together with a sound knowledge of electrical power generation and distribution may be considered.
- Experience in commissioning and fault diagnosis/rectification of control and protection equipment used in association with high voltage electric motors and generators, including the latest multifunctional relays and microprocessor based technology.
- The ability to represent the Company on its customers' sites and operate remotely on own initiative.
- Experience of safe systems of work in relation to high voltage and medium voltage electrical systems.
- I.T. literacy
