Description POWER PROJECTS MANAGER RECYCLING /RENEWABLE ENERGY BASED EITHER LONDON, MANCHESTER OR ROTHERHAM SALARY NOT LESS THAN £60K + BENEFITS
Our client is a rapidly growing clean technology business. The business builds and operates its own recycling plants based on proprietary autoclave technology which offer substantial benefits over conventional waste treatment methods. With our first plant now operational in Rotherham, a pipeline of facilities in development and the backing of blue chip financial institutions (£20 million), they are looking to expand their Development team.
Reporting to the Development Director, the Power Projects Manager will develop power projects to generate renewable energy from the high-purity biomass fibre we produce. With responsibility for technical and economic assessments, gaining Capital budget authorisation, supplier selection and procurement, obtaining planning consent and financial close, the role is key to the company’s success.
Possessing a numerate degree, you will have managed the successful development of power or associated projects worth tens of millions of pounds. Commercially astute, persuasive and a good negotiator, you will be capable of managing suppliers and internal resource to high standards across several parallel workstreams. You will be able to bridge technical, commercial and regulatory interfaces, and supply the strategic view as well as the short-term deliverables.
They are looking for the following experience/ability: • overall responsibility for the management of development activity to (or very near to) financial close • project management of simultaneous technical and economic assessments • board-level presentation and reporting, e.g. to obtain Capital budget authorisation • the management of supplier identification and selection through procurement or other exercise • technical and commercial specification writing, negotiation and contracting • scoping and management of planning consent campaigns, using third parties where appropriate
Skills: • interpretation of financial models • project management, the management of risk, the management of third parties • the ability to mix strategic and everyday considerations for the good of the project or company • proven commercial and negotiation skills in the purchase of large capital items • board-grade written and oral communications
