Description Purpose of the role is to manage the day-to-day welding and fabrication processes within the business.
Review metallurgical process controls applied to the manufacturing of stainless, nickel and titanium alloy heat exchangers with respect to diffusion bonding, welding, thermal and mechanical cutting processes, heat treatment and cold forming, cast v. forged v. hot isostatic pressing. Review/advise on the effects of material analysis variations on ability to comply with stipulated material specifications, assist in failure examinations where cause is metallurgical in nature.
Review customer enquiries for instances where requirements are likely to have an adverse effect on products; recommend suitable alternatives. Preparation of procedures/work instructions to cover process controls and assist in training of operators. Support departments with metallurgical advice. Preferred Experience: -Min HND level education -Strong technical knowledge of welding in general coupled with hands on experience within a welding/fabrication environment, especially with regard to exotic alloy -Pressure vessel experience, ideally within oil/gas/nuclear -R&D experience coverisng new manufacturing processes/metal cutting and joining technologies | | |
