Description
Main Purpose of Job: To ensure product integrity and safety whilst achieving an optimized balance between mass, strength and durability using test derived data, Finite Element Methods and hand calculations based on classical theories.
-Provide adequate design information to draughtsman for drawing generation
-Assist in technical reviews both internal and with the customer, providing design input and sales support.
-Identify new processes, process and structural improvements and where appropriate assist in their introduction.
-Identify and develop new products.
-Produce documentation inline with programme requirements.
-Liaison with production, purchasing and test functions to ensure that the structural requirements of the design are met.
-Provide programme plans.
-To be familiar with the Health and Safety and Fire policies for the company and to attend mandatory updates where required.
Person Specification:
-IT skills Access, Excel, Word, Project, Power Point and Outlook
-Knowledge of the materials and processes used in the manufacture of ducting.
-Understanding of design process.
-Ability to utilize necessary design analysis tools such as MSC PATRAN/NASTRAN/MARC.
-HND/Degree in a related engineering subject.
-Knowledge of basic function of aircraft equipment and effects of the operational environment on the equipment.
-Basic use of CAD system.
-Knowledge of QA processes.
-Presentation skills (Power Point)
-Knowledge of equipment repair & salvage processes.
Desirable
-Shop floor awareness
-Involvement In associated interest groups
-Driving license
-Finance awareness.
-Knowledge of MathCAD or other symbolic manipulation software.
-Languages
-Knowledge of other Meggitt products and processes
