Description Advanced Studies & Data Processing Group Leader Stevenage Salary To 50000 Essential experience Excellent knowledge of satellite system software needs Excellent understanding of Data Processing technical needs of satellite system Excellent knowledge on real time software development Architectural design skills (using appropriate tools/methodologies) – hardware/software partitioning Excellent UML, or System design tools Excellent requirements capture and analysis (expertise with associated tools) Excellent Team leadership skills
Desirable experience Working knowledge of ECSS standards for OBSW & DP development Use of requirements capture tools (e.g. DOORS). Data transport protocols (e.g. CCSDS), MIL-STD 1553B and/or spacewire standards, protocols & implementation Experience in working with European colleagues
Des The Central Engineering technical unit for Data Processing, On-Board Software & Dependability comprises departments in UK, France and Germany. The function of the technical unit is to provide a central competence that meets the evolving need of the business, for satellite platforms, payloads and equipment.
The UK department is now in a position to further develop & strengthen its activities related to Advanced Studies and Data Processing in order to efficiently support the project teams and to develop opportunities for further business. There will be a focus on R&D (internal & externally funded), & developing greater collaboration with the business Unit System Architects (for example in the domains of Autonomous systems, formation flying and robotics).
The role encompasses a predominantly technical bias, but team leadership/management element will be required in order to drive and develop a small team (typically up to 5 people).
As part of the UK Central Engineering Department, the successful candidate is expected to:
Support the development of the Advanced Studies & Data Processing Group in the UK. Develop the group competencies in Autonomous needs for the OBSW & Data Processing systems such as Rovers, Formation flying, robotics or vision-based systems, or other needs as identified as key to future business needs. Facilitate the transfer of knowledge & expertise into the UK department via the Advanced Studies & Data Processing department based in Central engineering (ASG74) Toulouse.
