Previous Experience Essential: 2 years experience in a design engineering role. Desirable: A good appreciation of the E3000 mechanical platform. Overview: The successful candidate will work within a dynamic multi-project team environment in the Telecoms Business Unit at Astrium in Stevenage. Project teams are collectively responsible for the detailed design and manufacture of the satellite mechanical platform (which comprises the structure, propulsion system, thermal hardware and harnessing) for Eurostar 3000 and other spacecraft. ‘Equipping’ drawings define the detailed installation of non-structural mechanical, thermal and electrical components on the spacecraft structure, and the successful candidate will play a significant role within a team of engineers responsible for ‘equipping’, a focus of which is the provision of these detailed design drawings to cost, performance and schedule constraints
Responsibilities: Ø Negotiate and agree technical requirements from the System Engineering team and ensure the compliance of Mechanical Platform hardware. Ø Agree the requirement dates for incoming and outgoing information and products with System Engineering, project management, and other team players. Ø Provide input for the control of cost and schedule relating to equipping activities on a multi-project basis. This includes maintaining a resourced plan, contributing to monthly cost reviews and identifying and costing changes to the baseline. Ø Managing the production and checking of manufacturing drawings to ensure that all MAIT (Manufacturing, Assembly, Integration and Test) inputs are provided in accordance with programme needs. Ø Negotiate resource requirements with resource managers. Ø Production of documentation as necessary to justify and validate the hardware. Ø Supporting team meetings, qualification and design reviews and other reviews as required. | | |
