Description Engineering Department Manager Stocksbridge, Sheffield, South Yorkshire Circa £40,000, plus benefits including Final Salary Pension Scheme, Company Sick Pay Scheme and 35 days paid Holiday Entitlement.

The company are looking for someone to manage the engineering operations within the Crane, Process Control, Road, Rail, Structural and Service Departments on their Stocksbridge Site to ensure that plant availability and performance is maintained and the department operates within agreed financial, operational, safety and environmental targets.
In addition the job holder will be required to:
Manage the engineering resources, procedures and working practices to achieve the required standards of plant and engineering, costs and performance.
Provide technical and engineering expertise to both production management and engineers; to develop and resolve plant and engineering problems through continuous improvement.
Assess staff performance, develop and implement training plans to take account of technical engineering, metallurgical, quality and legislative issues associated with the production processes.
Negotiate contracts with suppliers to facilitate hire of labour, specialist engineering services, refurbishment and maintenance of plant to achieve the required standards of quality, safety, service and cost.
The ideal candidate will possess an engineering degree (preferably Mechanical) or equivalent and have practical electrical engineering experience with demonstrable proven experience in an engineering management type role. The job-holder should also have a strong technical background, together with practical knowledge and understanding of Cranes, Process Control, Road, Rail and Structural equipment. In addition they will have a detailed knowledge of management principles, be a good communicator, effective people manager and possess the necessary leadership qualities to motivate a multi skilled flexible workforce.
This position operates on a day basis, although some weekend working will be required.
Located in Sheffield, this role is commutable from areas such as Rotherham, Chesterfield, Mansfield, Macclesfield, Doncaster, Barnsley, Huddersfield and Wakefield. | | |
