Description
Assembly and Test Engineer (Ideally recognised apprenticeship or well qualified by experience) required in the Cambridge area to perform specialist assembly and testing of gravity gradiometer sub-assemblies and instruments offering competitive salary plus attractive benefits.
Your role will involve:
- Be part of a team designing, building and testing gravity gradiometer instruments
- To provide specialist manufacture and assembly of gravity gradiometer components and systems.
- Develop understanding of instruments and technologies
- Interact with engineers within the company
- Liaison with project manager
- To plan, perform and document final system assembly and testing of gravity gradiometer instruments.
- Provide guidance to technicians
- Reporting of progress against agreed timescales both for individual tasks and projects.
- Initiate, lead and support appropriate process and product development concepts.
You will ideally be someone with the following:
- Undergraduate degree in engineering or science desirable
- Background in equipment development, Broad range of assembly and/or test experience, H&S aware and Safe use of workshop equipment.
- Experience of complex microelectronic assemblies, Experience of micro-joining technologies, Cryogenic experience, Experience of H&S system and including risk assessments etc
- Ability to generate and follow drawings, schematics and to specify components
- Cryogenics, superconductivity or SQUID systems, Integration of assemblies into systems, and ability to design suitable assembly and test protocols, adapting them to reflect outcomes
- Can cope with overseas trips etc. Field trials and operations hand-over. Flexibility to contribute to occasional out-of-hours requirements.
