Description AIT Mechanical Engineer, initial 6 months contract based in Stevenage rate to 30per hour Successful candidates will have as a minimum qualification a HNC in a Mechanical Engineering discipline, clear report writing and presentation skills. Experience of mechanical testing on prime projects or equivalent is highly desirable. Knowledge of alignment techniques would be advantageous. Spacecraft Mechanical testing on prime projects is essential Production of MGSE specs and operation of MGSE Production of high quality documentation (test specs, test plans, test procedures) Desirable: Alignment – producing test procedures and operating and maintain Optical alignment equipment Outline Job Profile (to include main duties and responsibilities, attach supplementary details if appropriate)
The Engineer shall be capable to support the following Produce specs from test requirements; write test plans, test procedures and test reports Logistics - control of project MGSE, flight hardware and support equipment. MGSE – producing specs from test requirements, operating and maintaining MGSE Mechanical handling of Spacecraft and equipments Prepare and carry out environmental tests (Vibration, Acoustic, Mass properties, Shock, Thermal) at spacecraft level. Install and validate test instrumentation. (Thermocouples, accelerometer, Handling and installation of thermal hardware Mechanical integration and testing of electronic units, subsystems and instruments, mechanisms, antennas, solar arrays, mechanical subsystems, instruments, and spacecraft and control the documentation associated with performing these tasks.
