The client is a very well established private group and a leader in the design and manufacture of commercial vehicle bodywork. It is a substantial employer operating across a number of UK sites and has a reputation for both product quality and innovation. This is a new key role reporting to the existing Engineering Manager who is planning to retire in the next few years. Following an initial period learning the business the focus of the role is to run the existing experienced team and to continue to take it forward as an increasingly effective function in the business. The team comprises Engineers, Project and Electrical and other product specialists and it has a deep experience of both the products and the marketplace.
The role will involve the development of new and existing products, processes and practices, problem solving, warranty issues and also working closely with the sales force and customers in order to ensure that design and product build specifications are met. You could either be a graduate Mechanical or Automotive Engineer, alternatively you may have progressed through the apprenticeship route. Having trained ideally in automotive commercial vehicles you will have developed through the drawing office, design and R&D and now be looking for a senior opportunity as an Engineering Manager. You will have excellent systems skills be highly computer literate and ideally understand how fabricated structures are designed and manufactured.
