Description CHIEF ENGINEER – DIESEL AUTOMOTIVE CONSULTANCY SHOREHAM - WEST SUSSEX
An exciting opportunity exists for a Chief Engineer – Diesel to join the Heavy or Light Duty Diesel Engine Product Group of one of the world leaders in the development of engine and vehicle technology.
Reporting to the UK Project Director, you be will responsible for identifying and responding to market opportunities, pro-actively developing new business, winning projects and delivering these to high standards of customer satisfaction and profitability and ensuring follow-on work wherever possible. A highly flexible engineer with a strong aptitude for business development, you will work with the existing team to support the continued expansion of the company’s Heavy/Light Duty business.
In particular, you will work with the Global Heavy/Light Duty Diesel Product Group and Business Development to identify new markets. You will then define a business development plan for these markets. Markets selected could cover selected geographic or technical areas and will be chosen to match the skills of the individual and to fit with the responsibilities of the current Product Group team
Moreover, you will lead the preparation of proposals and the presentation/selling of these proposals. In addition, you will manage and deliver project work carried out by the product group under your responsibility. This will involve providing technical leadership, mentoring junior engineers and significant liaison with the client.
You will be technically and financially responsible for projects, ensuring that they are delivered on time and to the quality required by the customer. Qualified to degree level or equivalent in an engineering discipline, you will be able to demonstrate your ability to lead and manage an engineering team. You also will have experience in design and development, ideally within the Heavy/Light Duty engine sector, although candidates with experience in other areas of engine/powertrain/vehicle development will also be considered.
