Systems Engineer – Sensors / Optronics

Our clients are a world-leading international company that provides a complete range of optronic products, systems and services to government and commercial customers across the globe. They have a presence on all the major international defence programmes, providing key detection and surveillance solutions and support to air, naval and land forces.
Primary purpose of the role is to develop the latest generation of sensor systems for fast jet, rotary wing and unmanned air vehicles. These systems comprise the latest infra-red sensor and opto-mechanical technology, together with complex algorithms and processing, implemented in custom electronics, firmware and software.
Key tasks include:
• Requirements management, including development of requirements with the Customer
• Systems architecting
• Systems performance analysis
• Preparation of estimates, proposals
• Management of a multi-discipline team
• System development from design through to production
• Organisation of, and participation in, flight trials
• Verification and validation including analysis and interpretation of trials results
Candidates will ideally have experience in developing and integrating state of the art systems or sub-systems, and it will be an advantage to have a working knowledge of some of the key tools/languages used, such as: UML, C++, DOORS, Simulink, Matlab and VHDL
