Description Ground Segment Systems Engineer
Working as part of the Galileo System Engineering team to provide Site Engineering expertise to the ESA Deployment Team.
The position is to provide Site Engineering and Installation expertise into the Galileo System Engineering team located in various locations in Europe. The role involves specifying site requirements, evaluating tenders, surveying sites and defining interfaces. Additional activities would be to support the acceptance of the sites and the integration and verification of the installed ground segment.
Frequent travel is expected with periods working on-site or collocated with the system team
Tasks are assigned by ESA in agreement with the system engineering manager within the system engineering team.
Activities:
Write site requirement documents
Write SoW requirements for facilities, infrastructure and required support activities
Support tender evaluation
Perform or support Site survey
Write site ICDs, defining mechanical, electrical and data interfaces between the site infrastructure and the equipment to be installed. Manage any subsequent review process of the documents.
Participate in site design reviews and acceptance and contribute to site acceptance documentation
Provide advice to 'segments' on installation issues covering mechanical, electrical, EMC and health and safety
Co-ordination of activities across national entities
Report progress to customer
Report progress on tasks and work package to management
Qualifications and/or Skills
Essential:
Degree/HND - Installing large ground systems, writing site requirements and interface control documents, able to define electrical and mechanical interfaces, understanding of EMC and health and safety issues, planning activities
Desirable:
Management of subcontractors or staff and liaison with the customer. French or Spanish language skills. Use of DOORS requirements management tool
Previous Experience
Essential:
Proven experience in the installation, integration and verification of large ground systems, ideally for satellite control or communication
Desirable:
Background in Satellite Navigation.
Worked with ESA or as part of multinational project team.
The successful candidate will be required to be security cleared prior to appointment. | | |
