Description BAA Gatwick Programmes Manager - Asset Performance Improvement
(equiv. c. £ 45 ,000 + Bonus + Major Benefits Package)
Over the last five years BAA has been making major changes to its organisational structure, which coupled with massive ongoing investment... Heathrow's T5 being the most visible but in reality across all 3 of its London Airports... will provide an experience for Travellers and Airport Stakeholders that is unrecognisable from its state-owned heritage. But this won't simply involve newer, larger buildings and re-invented processes capable of handling more passengers... it involves a commitment to profound cultural shifts across the business as a whole. This direction has taken-on even sharper focus as Gatwick begins the process of reshaping itself for a future as a standalone business.
As a result of changes made to support this strategy, a large proportion of the Company's current Operations Management team have been attracted to BAA from other industries within the last 3 years, bringing ideas and approaches developed in World Class Facilities Management, Manufacturing & Engineering organisations, Blue Chip Retail & Logistics, and other sectors where leadership talent & business performance improvement have become embedded principles. The organisational structure has evolved so the Terminals, Airfield, and other linking Airport facilities have become individual Business Units... each with its own integrated Customer Service & Asset Maintenance Management Team... supported by an Operational Solutions Resource which provides the strategies, standards and technical direction that play the leading role in defining the Airport's Engineering, Facilities Management & Operational Process Goals.
Working within the Operational Solutions Group, and with specific responsibility for driving & inspiring the improvement activities on which these goals depend, this newly-created team will in effect be responsible for identifying & closing the gaps between reality and aspiration... though an ongoing series of prioritised projects and by influencing proactive & focused Maintenance and FM activity within the customer-facing Business Units. The technical focus of the new team will be on the achievement of optimum levels of engineering asset performance, condition, safety & reliability - Civil, Mechanical or Electrical - in an operationally complex and reputation-critical environment - and in the World's 7th busiest Airport! These will be highly visible roles with objectives that rely on continually enhancing relationships within the organisation; as well as with Service Suppliers and other Gatwick Stakeholders (eg. Airlines, Ground Handlers, Retailers).
Interest is invited from graduate qualified Engineers with strong project leadership experience, highly effective influencing skills, and a results-orientated approach. In addition, we are looking for strengths in the following areas...
· Technical credentials gained in a Engineering Maintenance or Facilities Management arena · Used to an environment that is reliant on high quality, effective & reliable engineering assets (OEE) · Used to working in a customer-led "service delivery" environment (SLAs, KPIs etc) · Strong track-record of Continuous Improvement (Lean) and of influencing new, better & less reactive thinking · Strong understanding of modern maintenance approaches (PPM/TPM) and of IT-based asset management and planning system | | |
