Senior Architecture & Design Solutions Manager
BAA Heathrow
To c. £ 82,000 + Executive Bonus + Benefits Package
Over the last five years BAA has been making major changes to its organisational structure, which, coupled with massive ongoing investment – T5 is only the first of several key steps in Heathrow’s evolution strategy – will create an environment for travellers & other airport business community stakeholders that provides an experience totally unrecognisable from its state-owned heritage. But this won’t simply involve renovated buildings and reinvented processes capable of handling more passengers… it involves a commitment to profound cultural shifts across the business as a whole as well as a design & construction budget of over £16 Billion for the 4 years to 2014 .
Behind a capital investment plan that will make T5 Heathrow's oldest terminal in a surprisingly short period of time is a financial commitment and a "grand design" that involves a functionally & visually integrated network of passenger and stakeholder facilities that will have the appearance of one, single, seamless Airport stretching the entire length of, and running between the two existing runways. Current redevelopment plans for Terminals 3 & 4 therefore combine a variety of design drivers for the individual Terminals - modernisation, passenger experience, capacity growth, security; and changing patterns-of-use being important ones - but also encompass the requirement that each design also fits perfectly as a component of this vision of Heathrow's future.
Working within BAA's Senior Capital Projects Management Team, the role has responsibility for managing the Design Process for each Infrastructure Solution, from Architects and Structural Engineers to Traffic Planners, Wayfinding Specialists & Landscape Designers, ensuring Heathrow's operational & business objectives are all met, including financial targets & the adherence to BAA Engineering Standards, but in a way that also optimises creativity, flair and innovation from the design community and ensures that these visions are kept in focus during the construction phase.
Interest is invited from degree-qualified (Architecture) candidates with strong project leadership experience, highly effective influencing skills, and a results-orientated approach. In addition, we are looking for strengths in the following areas…
? Impressive track-record across a variety of high-value capital infrastructure projects, working in
upstream/development/strategy areas
? Experience working across interdependent projects
? Builds positive relationships in a complex, multiple stakeholder environment
? Good negotiation skills & a commercially-driven approach
? The motivation to develop a career within an in-house, corporate "solution management" environment
