Description Engineering Standards & Assurance Manager To c. £45 ,000 + Bonus + Major Benefits Package
Over the last five years BAA has been making major changes to its organisational structure, which coupled with massive ongoing investment... Heathrow's T5 being the most visible but in reality across all 3 of its London Airports... will provide an experience for Travellers and Airport Stakeholders that is unrecognisable from its state-owned heritage. But this won’t simply involve newer, larger buildings and re-invented processes capable of handling more passengers… it involves a commitment to profound cultural shifts across the business as a whole. This direction has taken-on even sharper focus as Gatwick begins the process of reshaping itself for a future as a standalone business.
As a result of changes made to support this strategy, a large proportion of the Company’s current Operations Management team have been attracted to BAA from other industries within the last 3 years, bringing ideas and approaches developed in World Class Facilities Management, Manufacturing & Engineering organisations, Blue Chip Retail & Logistics, and other sectors where leadership talent & business performance improvement have become embedded principles. The organisational structure has evolved so the Terminals, Airfield, and other linking Airport facilities have become individual Business Units... each with its own integrated Customer Service & Asset Maintenance Management Team... supported by an Operational Solutions Resource which provides the strategies, standards and technical direction that play the leading role in defining the Airport's Engineering, Facilities Management & Operational Process Goals.
Working within the Operational Solutions Group, and with specific responsibility for managing change control / version control processes for all Design and Engineering briefs, strategies and standards, this newly-created role will involve a Programme Management process ensuring standards and strategies are reviewed annually, acting as a focal point for inputs, challenges, updates and statutory revisions relating to Design and Engineering briefs & standards, working with Design and Engineering Lead Engineers to manage the content and distribution of all briefs, strategies and standards; and ensure the availability of up-to-date information for use by Procurement Managers. Additional responsibilities will relate to embedding high quality, self-sustaining engineering systems, the protection of Intellectual Property, and Gatwick's Incident Reporting/Learning & Safety Management Processes... and in the World’s 7th busiest Airport! This will be a highly visible role with objectives that totally rely on continually enhancing relationships within the organisation; as well as with Maintenance Service Suppliers and other Gatwick Stakeholders. It is also one of several new roles that directly benefits from the opportunities for competitive advantage provided by Gatwick's future as a more focused, independent business.
Interest is invited from graduate calibre (HNC minimum) Maintenance Planning Systems professionals with strong leadership qualities, highly effective influencing skills, and a results-orientated approach. In addition, we are looking for strengths in the following areas…
