| Location | London ( London Postcodes ) South East ( Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire, Middlesex, Oxfordshire, Surrey ) | | |
Salary to £47000 + bonus + benefits
Description Programmes Manager - Asset Performance Improvement - Energy & Environment BAA Heathrow to c. £47,000 + Bonus & Major Benefits During the last 3 years BAA has been matching its £Multi-Billion Capital Infrastructure Modernisation & Expansion programme with another equally significant investment... the implementation of a 'top-down' Cultural & Structural Change strategy. This strategy has been designed to fully address the issues arising from the Company's legacy as a non-commercial, state-owned infrastructure monopoly . Airport knowledge, whilst useful, is no longer the main criterion for all management appointments... now replaced as a priority by clearly defined "must have" Leadership Qualities; with internal & external candidates competing on level terms. As a direct result, an Airport Management organisation that was in the past characterised by a closed-shop recruitment policy is now one where a large proportion of its management population bring with them strengths developed in other industries. As well as allowing BAA to create and bed-in a management culture & 'ability-to-deliver' that rivals any Best Practice organisation, it has brought with it a sudden wealth of fresh new ideas... ideas tried and tested in sectors as diverse as the Automotive Industry, FMCG Manufacturers, Pharmaceuticals, Retail Logistics, The Armed Forces... as well as many others. Structural changes have led to each Terminal, Airside Operations, Baggage Handling and other operational areas becoming self-contained Business Units, each with an integrated Operations Management Team (Customer Service, Logistics, FM/Engineering Support, Quality Assurance & Planning). These multiple management structures have in turn created an environment where high performers have benefitted from accelerated promotion opportunities and, as a result, the potential to attract new candidates motivated to test and develop their operational, technical and leadership skills in the challenging environment provided by a Major International Airport. Although appointments are made on the basis of operational man management and/or Engineering Improvement-driving qualities, tested in a relatively short, half-day assessment centre, successful performers have generally had the following credentials ... Engineering Degree Qualified, possibly Masters or C.Eng level An Engineering Management pedigree - but with a more consultative, improvement-driving style Strong 'Lean' Pedigree gained in a Maintenance / Asset Management context (OEE / TPM / RCM etc) Skilled at overcoming resistance to change, and of setting, getting buy-in to, and achieving ambitious improvement targets Achieves results through people rather than by direct personal intervention Process orientated with an innate ability to organise and optimise data Experience working in an organisation which prioritises & invests in leadership skills development For this role, previous experience leading change in the Energy & Environment field is important Interested candidates should contact caroline@morganrem.com
