This is a first class career opportunity to contribute your engineering expertise to our client?s steam turbines business in Baden, Switzerland. Joining one of the world leaders in transport and energy infrastructure, the Design Engineer for Arrangement Planning and Auxiliaries will contribute to the development of standardized models (mainly 3D) for the arrangement of steam turbines and their auxiliaries. You will assist in creating 3D architectures (equipment, civil and steel structures, piping and valves) and edit arrangement drawings. Furthermore, you will estimate preliminary loads, piping length and elbow numbers as well as manage and check interface data (for example type, dimension). In addition you will participate in design review and design freeze; monitor opportunities and risks, as well as contribute to reporting to the project authorities and management and ensure that feedback is shared.
The successful candidate will need a degree in engineering and experience in arrangement planning. A good knowledge of steam turbines and their auxiliaries as well as of design methods for arrangement, 3D modeling tools (PDMS) and 2D software (AutoCAD) is required. You will also need a basic understanding of civil design and steel structures, the thermal process and power plant operation. Fluency in English is essential and German would be desirable though German language classes will be on offer at an onsite language school and a willingness to learn is essential. Possessing excellent analytical capabilities, you will be an open-minded and result-oriented team player with effective communication skills and cost awareness.
