MECHANICAL SYSTEM ENGINEER
GAS TURBINES FOR POWER GENERATION
BADEN, SWITZERLAND
Our client, one of the world leaders in transport and energy infrastructure based in Baden, Switzerland has recently registered a requirement for a Mechanical System Engineer to join their Turbomachines group.
In this role you will design and develop components and modules for gas turbine auxiliary systems on the basis of development and customer project requirements; develop and specify components, modules and blocks and perform mechanical integrity analyses as well as design hardware details including design calculations. You will prepare PDM manufacturing documentation of standard equipment including I&T plans and test certificates plus contribute to project execution in contract analysis, project schedule review, project-specific engineering, system design calculations, documentation and shop inspections. Furthermore, you will act as an interface between different functions and provide technical support to manufacturers, site personnel and the tendering department.
Successful candidates will have a university degree in (mechanical) engineering or similar and an additional degree in economics would be desirable. Some experience in hardware design, component selection and validation and in operation, flushing and protection procedures including site implementation is required. Experience in system design or fluid dynamics/thermodynamic calculations as well as in plant engineering or thermal block design would be advantageous. A basic knowledge of CAD (AutoCAD), codes and standards and electrical engineering will also be necessary. Familiarity with SECAD, PDMS and commissioning would be beneficial. You will be target-oriented and a reliable team player with effective communication skills and an independent working style.
German language classes will be on offer at an onsite language school and a willingness to learn is essential. Famous for its thermal baths and historic town centre, the small but lively town of Baden is situated just twenty minutes from Zurich and the airport.
