Description
SENIOR SYSTEMS PERFORMANCE ENGINEER
ELECTRICITY TRANSMISSION NETWORK
TASMANIA, AUSTRALIA

We are seeking a Senior Systems Performance Engineer to provide project and technical support for new and modified connections including liaison with appropriate regulatory and industry bodies. You will also be expected to undertake technical studies and investigations associated with new or modified network connections and prepare appropriate reports and data summaries. Where necessary, you will also develop and validate key technical data associated with new or modified connections (including dynamic models) and assess the validity and credibility of data provided by market participants for such purposes.

Qualified to degree level or equivalent in electrical power engineering, you will have proven modelling and system planning experience in the Electricity Supply Industry. You will also have excellent communication and report writing skills as well as the ability to work both individually and as part of a small team.

A sound understanding of power system and control systems theory would be advantageous as would a highly developed understanding of power system components (generation and transmission), system design and operation.

You will be joining an electricity transmission network company whose vision is to be a leader in developing and maintaining sustainable networks. They aim to efficiently provide a reliable and secure electricity transmission service at a cost commensurate with appropriate and sustainable returns to shareholders; and to develop new business opportunities building on our established strengths.

They offer exciting and stimulating career opportunities at a time when the electricity industry in Tasmania is going through interesting and challenging times. They are committed to helping all employees develop and pursue their careers.

Leave the rat race behind and start a new relaxed life in a state with more than 1,000 mountain peaks, spectacular coastlines, four mild seasons, friendly people, some of the world?s rarest animals, and where more than 40 per cent of our Island is protected as national parks and reserves. The main Island, which compares in size to the Republic of Ireland, is home to about 500,000 people.

The air is scientifically proven to be just about the world?s cleanest and the soils are rich and fertile so the produce, seafood and wines taste wonderful. They do their best to manage the Island responsibly and in 2004 the US National Geographic Traveler magazine?s Sustainable Tourism Initiative ranked Tasmania equal third in the world, for wise land stewardship.

Tasmania is currently experiencing the lowest levels of unemployment in 30 years. As the competition to attract and retain skilled employees becomes more intense, businesses are looking for new sources of skilled labour - including recruiting skilled workers from overseas.
