Description NUCLEAR SAFETY ANALYSTS ENGINEERING CONSULTANCY GLOUCESTER
These are excellent opportunities for physicists with a background in Reactor Physics, Dosimetry and Shielding, Thermal Hydraulics and Reactor Transient Analysis to develop a career within the nuclear industry.
As part of a group of experienced scientists and engineers you will be contributing to project delivery teams but could also act as the main technical contributor and driver for individual projects in support of safety cases, plant modifications and decommissioning work.
As Nuclear Safety Analysts you will be involved in modelling real plant radiation transport problems by the application of state of the art modelling tools, working to strict quality assurance standards and producing high quality technical reports on the outcome of your work. You will be required to deliver your work to agreed timescales and costs as well as interfacing with customers throughout the lifecycle of projects including the specification, delivery and presentation of results. There will be opportunities to visit clients at their sites.
To succeed as Nuclear Safety Analyst, you must be qualified to degree level in Physics or with equivalent relevant experience. A postgraduate qualification would be desirable, as would Chartered Physicist status.
You must have excellent analytical skills and the ability to interpret a variety of technical information, as well as excellent written communication skills, the ability work effectively in a team, good attention to detail and good computer skills.
You must be able to develop detailed computational models of real plant and written communication in technical reports and should be able to demonstrate the ability to work on your own initiative. A strong delivery focus with problem solving ability is essential, and you should be adaptable and able to work on a variety of projects, prioritising as appropriate.
Security Clearance will be required for these roles.
Ideally you will have a knowledge of reactor physics, knowledge of radiation transport or thermal hydraulic methods and experience of direct client interaction. A full UK driving licence would also be advantageous.
