Description STRUCTURAL ANALYST NUCLEAR ENGINEERING CONSULTANCY GLOUCESTER
We are seeking both recent graduates and experience Structural Engineers to work in the structural analysis area (including low and high temperature assessment, finite element analysis and design code assessment), contributing to project delivery teams, as well as acting as the main technical contributor and driver for individual projects in support of safety cases, plant modifications and decommissioning work.
As Structural Analyst you will be involved in structural analysis and assessment using a range of analytical methods, design codes and finite element modelling as well as working to strict quality assurance standards and producing high quality technical reports. You will be required to deliver work to agreed timescales and costs and will interface with customers throughout the project lifecycle including the specification, delivery and presentation of results. There will be opportunities to visit clients at their sites.
Successful Structural Analysts should be able to demonstrate an aptitude for solving problems and analysing data, as well as developing detailed computational models of real plant and written communication in technical reports.
Qualified with a good degree in engineering (mechanical/aeronautical/mathematical), physics or mathematics, or the equivalent relevant experience, to succeed as Structural Analyst, you need excellent analytical skills and the ability to interpret a variety of technical information, impressive written and verbal communication skills and strong delivery focus with problem solving ability.
You must be able to work well within a team, have good attention to detail and good computer skills, with the ability to work on your own initiative. You must be adaptable and able to work on a variety of projects, prioritising as appropriate. Ability to obtain security clearance is essential for this role.
A knowledge or experience of stress analysis, fracture mechanics, design code assessment or finite element stress and thermal analysis, especially as applied within the power generation or nuclear industries is highly advantageous, as is a knowledge of project management and consultancy and knowledge of the safety requirements in the nuclear industry.
A postgraduate qualification in a relevant subject is desirable, as is Chartered Engineer status, although this is not essential.
