Description MECHANICAL ENGINEERS ENGINEERING CONSULTANCY GLOUCESTER
We are seeking to recruit graduate, developing and experienced mechanical engineers to join an experienced team of engineers and scientists providing support to high profile customers across the nuclear sector.
Within the 'Power Generation' business based in Gloucester, you will work with a team of experienced scientists and engineers contributing to project delivery in support of installation of new equipment, modifications to existing equipment, safety case justification and decommissioning work. You could also act as the main technical contributor and driver for individual projects.
You will responsible for the specification, design, modification or justification of plant items on nuclear sites involving: the analysis of problems, developing and implementing solutions in project teams, producing high quality technical reports of the outcome of your work, ensuring the quality of engineering projects delivered by third parties and producing safety cases to support engineering changes on nuclear sites.
As Mechanical Engineer, duties will depend on experience level, so you may also be involved in representing the department in technical meetings with clients and third parties, identifying new business opportunities, leading/assisting with the production of contract proposals and bids and assisting in maintaining and developing the technical capability/knowledge of the team.
To succeed as Mechanical Engineer you should be qualified to degree level in an appropriate discipline or equivalent relevant experience and must be able to demonstrate commitment to safety with good attention to detail and a questioning attitude. You should be able to demonstrate an aptitude for solving problems, developing solutions and communicating effectively through technical report writing. Good computer skills are essential as are excellent analytical skills and the ability to interpret a variety of technical information.
Ideally, you will have knowledge of the operation of civil gas cooled reactor plant and operation and knowledge and experience of the safety case process used on nuclear plant, as well as experience of direct client and contractor interaction and contract bid preparation and/or project management.
Chartered Engineer status would be preferred. You should ideally hold a full UK driving licence and must be able to obtain security clearance.
