ENGINEERING CONSULTANCY
OXFORDSHIRE

We have excellent opportunities for Human Factors Consultants to join the Civil Nuclear Business Group who are delivering services to the civil nuclear, defence, and security sectors in the UK and overseas. As Human Factors Consultant, your responsibilities will include managing and/or contributing to human factors consultancy projects; analysing problems, discussing and developing solutions with colleagues and customers; producing high quality technical reports on the outcome of your work and delivering projects to timescales and cost.

You will be interfacing with customers throughout the lifecycle of projects from concept to operation, identifying, developing and bidding new business opportunities, developing and mentoring the technical capability/knowledge of the team and representing the business in technical meetings with clients and third parties.

We are seeking assessment and design skills in the following areas: task analysis and human reliability assessment; organisational and management systems; workplace layout; the working environment; human-machine interface; documentation layout and design; and competence assurance (including selection and training).

To succeed as Human Factors Consultant, you should be qualified to degree level in psychology or ergonomics (alternatively, educated to first degree in another subject together with a directly relevant post-graduate qualification) with experience in human factors integration - experience in leading such activities is essential. You must have demonstrable competence in at least two of the areas of activity cited in the role description, experience of direct client interaction and knowledge of the broad range of Human Factors application areas, defence, nuclear transport.

The company recognises the importance of personal qualities amongst its consultants and in addition to your technical knowledge and experience you will need to demonstrate effective interpersonal skills, and professional maturity in dealings with clients. Mobility is a fundamental element of consulting and a proportion of time well be spent on client sites. With this in mind, a full UK driving licence is essential.

Security clearance to work on defence related projects will be required.
