Description ELECTRONICS DESIGN / DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER OIL & GAS INDUSTRY NEAR CARDIFF
We are seeking an experienced Electronics Design/Development Engineer to join a small and friendly Technology Department based at offices near Cardiff in South Wales. This company is a world leader in the design, development and manufacture of precision, innovative downhole electromechanical data acquisition instrumentation for the worldwide oil and gas industry. Their products are used to measure flow, pressure, temperature and other parameters within the well bore.
As Electronics Design/Development Engineer you will design and develop high-precision, high temperature electro-mechanical instrumentation for use in oil and gas wells. This will involve innovative conceptual and practical (hands-on) analog and digital electronic design to internal /client specifications; practical design and proving of design concepts and compiling technical proposal & specification documentation.
You will produce high quality PCB and layout drawings; design test schedules and plans for new products as well as develop all production documentation for production hand-over of new products. Furthermore you will train assembly personnel in testing and acceptance of new product designs; compile electronic sections of product operations and maintenance manuals and undertake product design, development and support from cradle to grave.
As Electronics Design/ Development Engineer you will be educated to degree level (HNC/HND may also be considered) and have diverse electronic design experience. You should have experience in analogue and digital design capabilities; low power, low noise instrumentation design and PCB layout skills. Experience in firmware development (FPGA, ASIC); software (Embedded C, .NET) and trouble shooting to board / component level is required as is experience of CAD simulation packages, CAD, PCB and schematic.
Demonstrable project management and organisational skills as well as high quality written and verbal communication skills are essential for this role. You will also need an understanding of IPC-A-610 (Class C) and ACTEL, FPGA/ASIC Programming, DSP, VB.NET would be an advantage. Experience of sensor development, data transmission/bus systems and high temperature (200degC) low power design would also be a plus.
You will need the ability to work with minimum supervision and to challenging deadlines in a fast changing, high pressure environment.
