Description
Job Title: Chief Engineer
Location: Southampton
Salary: £DOE plus excellent benefits
Chief Engineer required for a large transatlantic aerospace systems and equipment business. You will be responsible for the technical integrity of all products, managing the design, structural analysis, mass engineering functions. You will have 5-6 direct reports (managers of various departments).
Senior Technical Authority for all design, R&D activities and airworthiness
Accountable for the technical integrity of all design and R&D activities
Technical oversight and approval of all structural engineering within the Design Office, covering aerospace metallic and composite structures in military and civil aerospace applications
Response for ensuring technical team capability meets regulatory requirements
Responsible for ensuring external technical resources are capable and their work meets regulatory requirements
Ability to provide structural concepts for Design Office to work to and develop, in conjunction with technical team.
Design “Reviewer” across all projects for conformance and structural integrity
Ensure airworthiness requirements are maintained
Ability to communicate confidently and with authority with senior personnel both internally and externally
Development of methods and capability in design and structural analysis disciplines
Maintenance of the required design and stress signatory level personnel
Ensure technical quality requirements are met and airworthiness regulations are maintained
Oversight of technical bid preparation including scope and requirements definition together with sizing the associated manning levels and costs
Identifies and sizes risk utilising a formal risk management process
Drives functional excellence of the technical team
Technical oversight of the strategic use of offshore low cost engineering resource
Able to travel globally | | |
