A large Aerospace development and manufacturing company are looking for a manufacturing engineer involved in New Product Development giving best in class solutions for manufacturing complex aerospace products to quality and cost targets. Experience with electromechanical development and build projects within a high tech sector would be advantageous.
Job Summary:
To act as the key link in inputting processing and product knowledge into development programmes
To provide pro active input into product development that ensures products are designed to cost utilising DFM & Assembly principles
To act as the gate keeper for manufactured configuration of products
Support Project teams, acting as the key driver for Manufacturing Engineering input into new developments, applying your technical and personal skills to ensure new products are brought to production on time and to cost and quality requirements.
Key responsibilities
In summary :
The Manufacturing Engineering Authority on Development programmes.
Coordinate the completion of a PFMEA and implementation of associated risk reduction activities in line with LCM requirements
To define manufactured recurring costs at bid stage, and to manage recurring cost improvement via product development.
Identify and implement appropriate manufacturing facilities
Work with the Sourcing team to ensure best quality & price from supply chain.
Technical input, identification of root cause and corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence
Ensure engineering changes are implemented in a timely manner
Manufacturing Engineering of new products & designs fully utilising PIM & PIP process
Utilising technical expertise alongside DFMA principles with Engineering to ensure designs are fit for manufacture
Working with Programme team to ensure product is designed to or below cost targets
Qualifications required
