Description COOLING & VENTILATION OPERATIONS TECHNICIAN CENTRE FOR SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH GENEVA, SWIZERLAND
We are seeking an experienced Technician to join the Cooling & Ventilation Group of the Engineering Department which is responsible for designing, constructing, maintaining and operating cooling and air conditioning systems and large scale fluid distribution systems for the whole Laboratory, in particular in accelerator and Experiments underground areas.
As Cooling & Ventilation Operations Technician you will be part of the Operations Section within the Cooling & Ventilation Group which is responsible for the operation of the installations ranging from the most recent to the very old and you will contribute to the monitoring of air-conditioning, water pumping as well as compressed air and chilled water production systems. You will take part in the related problem analysis and repairs and in the planning of interventions on equipment and will identify the best possible responses to users' technical requests and, in collaboration with others, will determine appropriate technical solutions for modifications and renovation work.
Your duties will also require you to participate in inspection rounds and as well as in regular stand-by service, to use CAMM software, record actions taken and ensure that contractors have completed job orders and correctly recorded them as well as to make calculations and summary measurements for ventilation and industrial piping systems with the support of the Design Engineers.
To succeed as Cooling & Ventilation Operations Technician you should be qualified to Higher Technical Diploma level in mechanics or electromechanics or equivalent with good knowledge of ventilation, compressed-air production, air conditioning and chilled water production systems and experience in the operation, maintenance and repair of air-conditioning systems.
You must have good organisational skills and ability to co-ordinate activities involving different technical fields (electricity, civil engineering, heavy handling, cooling and ventilation and cost control) as well as the ability to use modern computing tools for computer-assisted maintenance management (D7i) and office work (Microsoft Office).
Knowledge of low-voltage electrical equipment, control systems and process automation would be an advantage. You must be fluent in either French or English and a working knowledge of the other language is desirable and a good command of it must be acquired during the probation period.
All positions are offered on a limited-duration contract for a period of five years. Subject to certain conditions, holders of limited-duration contracts may be granted an indefinite contract.
