Description ELECTRICAL TECHNICIAN ? COOLING & VENTILATION CENTRE FOR SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH GENEVA, SWIZERLAND
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Technician to join the Cooling & Ventilation Group which is responsible for designing, constructing, maintaining and operating cooling and air conditioning systems and large scale fluid distribution systems for the whole Laboratory, in particular in accelerator and Experiments underground areas.
As Electrical Technician you will contribute to the monitoring of electrical systems controlling air-conditioning, water pumping as well as compressed air and chilled water production systems and will take part in the related problem analysis and repairs and in the planning of interventions on equipment. You will be required to ensure the implementation of safety measures and controls made by staff or external audits on the electrical systems and to identify the best possible responses to users' technical requests and, in collaboration with the other personnel, determine appropriate technical solutions for modifications and renovation work.
You will participate in inspection rounds as well as in a regular stand-by service and will use CAMM (Computer Assisted Maintenance Management) software, record actions taken and ensure that contractors have completed job orders and correctly recorded them as well as making calculations and summary measurements for electrical systems with the support of Design Engineers.
To succeed as Electrical Technician ? Cooling & Ventilation, you should be qualified to Higher Technical Diploma in Electrical Engineering or equivalent with good knowledge and several years? experience in the operation, maintenance and repair of industrial low voltage electrical systems. Knowledge of control systems and process automation would be an advantage.
Good organizational skills and ability to co-ordinate activities involving different technical fields (electricity, civil engineering, heavy handling, cooling and ventilation and cost control) are essential, as is the ability to use modern computing tools for computer-assisted maintenance management (D7i) and office work (Microsoft Office). A natural flair for contacts with people and good teamwork skills is also required.
You must be fluent in either English or French, with a basic knowledge of the other language or an undertaking to acquire it rapidly.
All positions are offered on a limited-duration contract for a period of five years. Subject to certain conditions, holders of limited-duration contracts may be granted an indefinite contract.
