Description Electrical Engineering Manager Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire £Negotiable salary plus benefits
Our client is the second largest steel producer in Europe with an annual crude steel capacity of 20 million tonnes and major manufacturing sites in the UK, Netherlands, Germany, France and Belgium.
The principal purpose of this position is to provide and direct a complete Electrical and Control Engineering department covering project, design and technical support engineering for the Business and other sites.
You will also establish and direct policy strategy for plants relating to electrical and control engineering and act as the final reference on all such matters, fulfilling the role of Business Electrical Engineer and taking responsibility for electrical safety.
The post holder will manage, direct and control all HV, electrical and control engineers within the Electrical department in accordance with the principles set out in ISO9001. This includes setting strategy, objectives and key performance indicators, ensuring adequate formal and informal communication processes; setting, recruiting, adjusting and monitoring resource levels, competence & remuneration; ensuring the management system is effective, corrects failure and prevents failure recurrence; integrates organisational learning with feedback from customers, employers and others to improve the departmental processes.
You will be also be responsible for establishing environmentally sound policies and procedures, to enable it to manage in an environmentally friendly manner and utilize its ISO4001 accreditation.
Qualifications/Experience/Personal Qualities:
The successful candidate will be educated to Chartered Electrical Engineering level and be a member of IET, with appropriate business management training to MBA/diploma level. You will be trained in management practices, including finance, HR, supplies, auditing, quality assurance and environmental management.
You should also be familiar with HV procedures, power quality, safety monitoring & accident investigation techniques, and functional & Process Safety and will be able to demonstrate your experience of the following;
- Project formation and management - Design - HV, electrical and control engineering design or maintenance - Electrical policy formation - Negotiation of large commercial contracts
A full driving licence is also essential as this role involves travelling to other sites.
