Description SENIOR RISK ENGINEER LEADING OIL, GAS, PETROCHEMICAL CONSULTANCY UPSTREAM ENERGY SECTOR UK ? PERMANENT ROLE
Due to recent growth in the area of upstream engineering, we are seeking a Senior Risk Engineer to provide technical (risk engineering) support and guidance for insurance placement purposes predominantly within the Upstream Energy sector. The role involves a significant amount of international travel so you could be based anywhere in the UK as long as you are prepared to travel to the London office from time to time.
The role will involve carrying out risk assessments, insurance-related facility surveys and reviews of new projects for Energy clients, with a focus on the Upstream E&P sector on a global basis. The position will also support the Energy broking team in placing risks in international insurance markets.
After initial training, you will be responsible for managing engineering support for assigned clients, new business and prospects in the Energy department. Work will need to be executed within agreed engineering fee limits dictated from insurance policy or through negotiation with the client. There will be additional responsibility for assigned internal projects to support the ongoing enhancement of department engineering systems to support main role execution.
As Senior Risk Engineer you should be qualified to degree level in Chemical, Petroleum or Mechanical Engineering and be of Chartered Engineer status or working towards it. You will also have experience working with a major oil E&P company (or leading contractor/service provider), with speciality experience in at least 2 of the following: production operations; drilling; design; well engineering; maintenance.
You should have sound working knowledge of relevant process technologies, work execution methods and project management and exposure to risk assessed driven decision-making - relevant to field of expertise. IT literacy to include general office systems is essential, as is experience of technical simulation packages for process modelling, risk assessment, project execution purposes as is relevant to field of expertise. You must have excellent written English and communication/ presentations skills.
Exposure to design and inspection of offshore structures would be desirable, but is not essential, as would a global perspective of the Upstream Energy sector and involvement in risk assessment either in design or operations, with a working knowledge of major accident hazards.
Ideally you will be active in industry associations and professional groups, i.e. IChemE, IMechE, EI, IADC and a 2nd European language would be useful.
