The Electrical/Electronics engineers will join the company?s Submarines business in their Electrical Controls Department. This department is responsible for the design, safety justification, in¬service and manufacturing support aspects for reactor control and protection systems for all operational and future naval nuclear propulsion plants. Aspects of system design include analogue and digital design, software, nucleonics, sensors and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC).
They also require engineers to undertake safety and reliability assessments of high integrity electrical systems using recognised techniques. The main tasks will include Fault Tree Analysis and Hazard Analysis, together with the production of associated documentation in order to demonstrate the overall integrity of the systems.
For all positions you will be educated to degree level or equivalent in electrical or electronics engineering or another relevant discipline. You will be able to demonstrate an understanding of the requirements of electrical controls within the defence, nuclear and other high integrity industries. For the safety and reliability roles, you will be able to demonstrate competency in applying Fault Tree Analysis and Hazard Analysis techniques together with authoring safety case documentation.
