Our client is an international metals company providing steel products and services to customers worldwide.
Engineering excellence is at the heart of delivering improved performance and as such our client is looking for Engineers who share their passion and determination for changing and improving their core engineering processes. As Maintenance Technician and reporting directly to the Departmental Maintenance Engineer you will be responsible for executing maintenance and improvement activities in line with the agreed work schedule.
You will set and delivers safe standards of workmanship and environmental control within the assigned area. Leading and motivating the team to deliver high levels of performance, the successful candidate will deliver clear, concise and consistent information. A key aspect of this role involves setting work quality and housekeeping standards for the team as well as assessing work methods with respect to improving efficiency and quality of work. Using your mechanical expertise, you will deliver equipment fault diagnostics and inspection techniques, whilst identifying improvements in maintenance and work methods and work efficiency.
With excellent people-management skills, the successful candidate will challenge and correct behaviours that do not meet required standards and take on responsibility for developing the capability of apprentices.
Our client’s ideal candidate must be self-motivated, innovative and be able to demonstrate a desire for continuous improvement. Able to demonstrate a high level of practical appreciation and application of maintenance principles, you will also be competent in the use of modern maintenance techniques and computer based management systems. Ideally you should have excellent communication skills throughout all levels of the organisation. A good understanding of budgetary control would also be beneficial. A BTEC National Level or equivalent with a full understanding of the mechanical engineering discipline is desirable.
