Description SENIOR STRUCTURAL ENGINEER ENGINEERING CONSULTANCY BASED LONDON OR SLOUGH WITH OCCASIONAL TRAVEL
To support our client?s ambitious growth plans, they are now looking to recruit a Senior Structural Engineer to join them at their offices in Slough or London.
As the Senior Structural Engineer, you will work within both the expanding engineering and structural integrity management (SIM) teams, the latter being one of two SIM Competency Centres worldwide within the company. The engineering team is involved in design and verification activities, whilst the SIM team, which has built up an industry wide reputation, has a wide range of SIM work, including several long term SIM contracts with major international oil and gas companies. Most of their work in both teams relates to fixed platforms but the teams are becoming increasingly involved in semi-submersibles.
The successful candidate will support one or more of the SIM or Engineering team\'s contracts, reporting to the Project Leader responsible for the contract. Your responsibilities will include the successful delivery of specific packages of work, such as: design and verification scopes and on the SIM team, analysis, preparation of written schemes, workbooks and inspection close-out reports, together with defect assessment and repair schemes. In the future, it would be anticipated that the successful candidate would develop and take on a Project Leader role.
To be successful in this role, you should be degree qualified in Civil or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent and ideally be chartered or working towards chartership. Competency in at least three of the following fields is essential: Structural design and analysis of offshore structures with detailed knowledge of design codes and design guidance and the ability to solve demanding technical problems to demonstrate structural integrity; he use of structural analysis software (e.g. ASAS, SACS, ANSYS, ABAQUS, SESAM, USFOS) for linear and nonlinear global analysis and detailed analysis of structural components; fracture mechanics and risk based inspection; structural integrity management for existing structures, involving structural reassessment, jacket and topsides (risk based) inspection planning, methods of inspection and inspection procedures; design verification combining independent assessment, review of fabrication drawings and detailed review of design reports.
