Description SENIOR MECHANICAL ENGINEERS OIL INDUSTRY NORTH YORKSHIRE
We are currently seeking degree-qualified experienced Mechanical Engineers to join this well-established and successful specialist manufacturing company who design and produce specialist electrical connectors for use with Electrical Submersible Pumps (ESP?s) used throughout the global oil industry in the down hole environment.
As part of the plans for continued growth, a vacancy has become available for a Senior Mechanical Engineer within the connector division of the company. Reporting to the Engineering manager, the candidate will provide support in overseeing multiple New Product Development activities. You will become a leader of the current team of mechanical design engineers to meet the ongoing and future engineering challenges being faced by the business. In addition to the day to day management of product developments associated with a typical engineering role, you will also oversee a team of engineers and draftspersons to ensure various product development and commercialization targets are met in a timely manner and within budget.
The successful applicant will provide high level support as the primary technical contact internally for their direct reports, ensure company processes are followed and adhered to, multiple tasks are managed in parallel, junior team members are mentored and engineering output checking and approval is supported at the highest level.
Having the ability to lead the product qualification and commercialization of many projects and developments, combined with engineering management and high level technical client liaison will be key attributes of the successful candidate. The candidate must be able to liaise technically with all other departments within the company facilitating support to achieve development targets. Attention to detail and a strong commitment to QHSE are also vital for this role.
You should have a degree in mechanical engineering preferably and a strong mechanical background (including FEA). Significant experience in the oil and gas industry, or similar demanding industry as well as experience with management of product development and manufacture is required. You should also have experience with Autodesk Inventor or other 3D CAD system.
Knowledge of ISO9001 quality systems; metallurgy, elastomers, sealing elements, and dielectric materials; qualification testing and manufacturing techniques is required. You should also have project management skills, especially NPD from concept to completion over the course of six to 18 months. An awareness or ideally experience with intrinsically safe equipment for example ATEX, FM are also necessary. You will have high attention to detail and be autonomous and driven.
