Description LEAD MECHANICAL ENGINEERS OIL INDUSTRY NORTH YORKSHIRE
We are currently seeking degree-qualified Mechanical Engineers to join this well-established and successful specialist manufacturing company who design and produce specialist electrical connectors for use with Electrical Submersible Pumps (ESP?s) used throughout the global oil industry in the down hole environment.
As part of the plans for continued growth, a vacancy has become available for a Lead Mechanical Engineer within the connector division of the company. Reporting to the Senior Mechanical engineer, the candidate will provide support to various New Product Development (NPD) activities. You will become a senior member of the current team of mechanical design engineers to meet the ongoing and future engineering challenges being faced by the business. In addition to the day to day management of product developments associated with a current Engineer role, the candidate will provide additional support to ensure company processes are followed and adhered to, multiple tasks are managed in parallel, junior team members are mentored and engineering output checking is supported to a high level.
A strong work ethic is required, ensuring that products are developed to exacting standards resulting in high reliability in the field. Having the ability to oversee product qualification and commercialization of one or more developments, combined with technical client liaison will be key attributes of the successful candidate. The candidate must be able to liaise with all levels and departments of the company and therefore good communication skills are important. Attention to detail and a strong commitment to QHSE are also vital for this role.
The ideal candidate will hold a degree in mechanical engineering and have a strong mechanical background (including FEA). Good experience in the oil and gas industry, or similar demanding industry is essential. You will also need experience with Autodesk Inventor or other 3D CAD system.
You will have high attention to detail and be autonomous and driven. Knowledge of ISO9001 quality systems; metallurgy, elastomers, sealing elements, and dielectric materials as well as of qualification testing and manufacturing techniques are also required. Furthermore, you will also need project management skills, especially NPD from concept to completion over the course of six to 18 months.
