Our client is one of the world's leading manufacturers of fire detection solutions for commercial and industrial applications.
They are currently looking to recruit a competent and experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to be responsible for product mechanical design and development in the team. Your aim will be to create fully detailed, tested and profitable solution specifications for manufacturing. This will involve managing the design and development process of new products from initial brief to production, liaising with external agencies to ensure new products are delivered on time, on budget and right first time.
Meticulous and thorough in your approach, you will produce and evaluate functional prototypes, managing idea generating exercises that identify innovative solutions as part of the product development process. Working with fully dimensioned engineering production drawings; you will carry out quality checks on engineering drawings, assembly drawings, BOMS and Test data. We will also require you to research and report on trends in aspects of design, new technology, materials and processes.
Our client is looking for a quality focussed Mechanical Design Engineer with the skills and expertise to make this role a success. Educated to degree / HND level or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, you will be experienced in product mechanical design and development. With a thorough working knowledge of 3D modelling systems mechanical design and drafting methods, you will be able to demonstrate knowledge of FEA, 3D CAD modelling system NX, I-DEAS or equivalent. Experienced in the design of mechanical structures within an ISO9001/2008 environment, it is essential that you are familiar with CFD and thermal engineering, mouldings and plastics.
