Description POWER STATION PROJECT ENGINEER ? CCGT LONDON BASED AND OVERSEAS TRAVEL
A first class career opportunity has arisen for a degree-qualified Engineer to join this company which develops, finances and invests in independent power generation and related infrastructure projects in Europe and North America.
The Power Station Project Engineer will provide all technical inputs to projects from site identification to financial close and also provide technical solutions to the level appropriate to project status. You will undertake the specification, adjudication, selection and management of the execution of contracts with consultants and local works contractors. You will support the permitting process and undertake technical due diligence for potential acquisitions. Furthermore, you will assess project risks and identify appropriate mitigation measures, as well as undertake EPC contract development including selection and negotiation of the technical aspects of the power station. You will also produce budgets for engineering resources during the project phases and monitoring of such budgets. In addition, you will maintain up-to-date technical data records and the project design basis document for the power project. You will also carry out effective internal and external reporting on engineering issues and status.
The successful applicant should have a good Mechanical or Electrical Engineering degree and significant experience in power engineering ideally focused on large CCGT plant design, development, maintenance, and/or construction. You will need previous experience of permitting processes, key permitting issues and pitfalls. A good understanding of CCGT thermodynamics and heat and mass balances as well as practical knowledge of water treatment plant and the steam/water cycle is also required.
Furthermore, you will need knowledge of project related infrastructure and contractual arrangements, as well as an understanding of cost benefit analysis to support technical decision making. You will need knowledge of power plant safety and asset integrity; EPC contract specification and technical negotiation as well as commercial and contract exposure at the EPC contract level. You will need previous experience of the selection and management of consultants. You will also need demonstrable experience of project delivery and the ability to manage internal and external resources. You will be happy working in a small business environment and across cultures.
